In 1951 Mr. A. S. Dick, Managing Director, The Standard Motor Co. Ltd., extended the Company’s Apprenticeship Scheme to include boys at the London Depot at Park Royal.
First to complete the five-year apprenticeship is Alan Moir, and he is pictured here, holding his endorsed indenture, after it had been presented to him at the London Depot by Mr. J. B. Murrell, Divisional Manager, who is seen standing at the extreme right.
In 1954 Alan was awarded the London City and Guilds Theoretical Certificate and the National Craftsman’s Certificate for Motor Vehicle Mechanics, and last year he qualified to take the Practical Examination conducted by the National Joint Industrial Council. Congratulating Alan, Mr. Murrell told him and his fellow-apprentices : “Endeavour, crowned with success, merits recognition.”
