Norman Turner

I worked for Triumph for more than 20 years, starting in 1968 at Tile Hill where I was working on the Herald and Vitesse.

I moved from there to Canley where I worked on the track building the Triumph 2000. That was my favourite Triumph – it was a big car with leather upholstery and it was great when I got to drive them around. I always wanted a 2000 of my own but I never got round to buying one. I remember there were a lot of strikes in those days – I did not do a full week’s work for years. I later moved into working on experimental prototypes and I retired aged 62 after Rover had taken over. It was a great place to work and there were some great lads.
