One of the reasons setting up this site was to try a put names to some of the people that feature in some of the well-known photographs. This particular photo shows the very last Triumph Herald (a 13/60 convertible) coming off the line. The photo is dated 21st May 1971.
We can now put a name to the gentleman driving the car. He is Standard Triumph Works Director Mervyn W J Sanders – know as Bill. Bill Sanders also pops up on a couple of other photos too, so he certainly wasn’t camera shy.
Initially General Works Manager, Sanders was appointed Works Director on 1st November 1968. Read more here…
