I was employed by the Standard Motor Co. from 1959 to 1965.
I worked in Staff Wages until 1962: then in Accounts Dept, both departments were at Canley.
It was a great place to work. As a junior I was sent to the Stationery Dept for a left handed screwdriver and a long wait.
My name then was Yvonne MacDonald. My friends in the office entered my name in the Sing Along With Joe competition that was in 1962. I won that and the prize was £250 – a lot of money in those days.
I am still friends with a few people I worked with in those days.
I left England in early 1974. I live in Australia. I will be 76 in May 2020.
